Hello and thanks for visiting my blog! My name is Julie. I am a recovering finance executive, wife, mother, and more. I live in the Boston area, but I grew up on the shores of the Mediterranean, exposed to many different cultures and artistic styles that I like to tastefully combine. All my life people have complimented me on my decorating choices. I constantly heard ‘your house is beautiful,’ or ‘where did you get that?‘, ‘can you help me decorate mine?’  Between a full time corporate job and kids, I never had the time to do anything about this. Now that I have some flexibility, I decided it’s time to start sharing some of my decorating insights with others to the extent I can. What makes me unique versus 10,000 other bloggers and decorators out there? Well, I am a bargain hunter. Most of the stuff I buy and have bought for my own home come from HomeGoods, Target, Ikea, TJ Maxx, and the like, and people are always surprised to hear that. Sometimes a little DIY project with supplies and spray paint from Michael’s transforms a clearance item into something that looks like it cost a hundred dollars. Yes, you can decorate your home beautifully without resorting to spending tens of thousands of dollars on brand names. Not that there is anything wrong with that; most of those brands make beautiful things, pieces of art even. However if you are the money-conscious type like me, you will cringe at the thought of plunking down that kind of cash for something, let’s face it, ephemeral. Stuff gets old and worn out, our tastes evolve, circumstances change… All of a sudden that thing you paid a thousand bucks for becomes an eye sore. There is no good, easy way of getting rid of furnishings, so you will most likely end up giving it away or selling it for pennies on the dollar. Wouldn’t you feel much better if you hadn’t paid that much for it in the first place? I know I would! So… I hope you enjoy this blog. Let’s get started!
